Design and Drafting Services
Our design and drafting team develops practical, buildable solutions for mining and industrial clients. Because our drawings go straight to our own fabrication workshop and then to our site crews, design, fabrication and installation stay connected from start to finish.
From 3D scanning and modelling through to fabrication drawings and on-site engineering support, we cover every step between an existing asset and a finished installation. Designs can be verified and certified by RPEQ and CPEng engineers, in-house or through our engineering partners.
When original drawings are missing or out of date, Forefront scans, models and redraws your assets accurately.

Where we work
Our Capabilities
We cover every stage of design and drafting, from capturing existing assets through to drawings ready for fabrication and installation.
Engineering Design & Detailing
We develop practical engineering solutions for mining and industrial plant, structures, equipment and site works. Our designs cover both new installations and modifications to existing plant, with verification and certification by RPEQ and CPEng engineers available in-house or through our engineering partners.
3D Scanning & Reverse Engineering
Using our own terrestrial laser scanning equipment, we capture existing assets as accurate point clouds. We then process this data into CAD models of plant and equipment, which is especially valuable where original drawings are missing or out of date.
3D Modelling & Clash Detection
We model existing and proposed equipment and structures, verifying dimensions against site conditions. Clash detection before fabrication and installation helps identify issues early, when they’re far easier to resolve. Our team works with software including AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks and Navisworks.
Drawings & Documentation
We produce fabrication and manufacturing drawings ready for the workshop, along with general arrangement (GA), as-built and shutdown scope drawings. We also prepare material take-offs, bills of materials and cut lists, supported by site measure-ups and dimensional surveys.
Poly & HDPE Design
We design and lay out polyethylene and polypropylene pipework systems, including valves and fittings. Applications include mine construction, dewatering, agriculture and infrastructure, with designs developed to suit installation by our own crews.
Site Engineering Support
Our engineers are available during shutdowns and projects, working alongside our labour, fabrication and supervision teams. When conditions on site don’t match the drawings, they can provide quick design fixes and redesigns to keep work moving.
Design through to installation
Every stage stays connected, from the first scan to the final installation.
-
Scan and measure
We capture existing assets using 3D laser scanning and site measure-ups.
-
Model and design
We build accurate CAD models, verify dimensions and check for clashes.
-
Drawings
We produce fabrication, GA and as-built drawings, along with material take-offs.
-
Workshop fabrication
Drawings go straight to our own fabrication workshop.
-
Site installation
Our site crews install the finished work, with engineers on hand when needed.
Our approach to design and drafting is built on:
Designs that go straight to our own workshop and site crews
Fewer handovers between design, fabrication and installation
Our own 3D laser scanning equipment
Verification and certification by RPEQ and CPEng engineers
Engineers on site during shutdowns and projects
