Coarse Ore Bin Lip Liner System
Category: Fixed plant wear solutions
Challenge: Crews spent hours jackhammering through compacted ore to reach the rear-mounted fasteners on large NiHard liners. Once the lifting lugs wore away, temporary lugs had to be welded onto NiHard, which doesn’t weld reliably. Uneven wear between the crusher arms forced replacement roughly every couple of months.
Solution: We replaced the original design with nine NiHard ledge liners, each secured by four front-face T-bolts. A purpose-built lifting jig handles installation and removal. After the first wear campaign, each liner is rotated 30° to bring an unworn section into the high-wear position.
Result: Hot works and jackhammering were removed from the change-out. Liner utilisation now exceeds 90% through rotation, and shutdown preparation time has been reduced.
